明日、このあたりに住んでいる外国人が参加するアルティメットの試合があるらしく
同僚何人かで観戦しに行くことしました。
そのあとはみんなでＢＢＱパーティーがあるらしく、けっこう楽しみにしています。
ＢＢＱってことはたぶんアメリカ人なんだろうな（笑）
僕も大学時代は広いアパートを借りていたこともあってよくＢＢＱをしていました。

タイ人の学生とルームシェアしてた時期もあったので
しょっちゅう「今週末はなんかしようや～」というノリになっていました。
ＢＢＱするスペースと参加する人さえいれば簡単にできるのでおすすめです。
１．まず友達に声をかけて、そのネットワークを駆使して友達の友達を探し出す。
ポイントは、そんなに親しくない人もどんどん誘ってしまうこと。
（1人か2人の親しくない人がいると気まずいけど、
4人以上知らない人がいれば逆に気まずくなくなる。）
一番簡単なのは、Bring your friends! と言って連れてきてもらうこと。
２．来てくれそうな女の子を何人か見つける（ここ重要）
３．いつ・何時にウチに来てと伝える。
日本人だったらけっこうみんな自主的にいろいろ持ってきてくれるのでうれしいです
４．もちろん準備を忘れずに
肉と野菜を大量購入して、飲み物とご飯を炊くくらいでしょうか。
時間があれば、肉をマリネートして味付けしておくとけっこう好評ですよ。
５．動き回れ！
ＢＢＱが始まって、同じ位置で同じ人と話し続けるのはＮＧ。
座る席が決まっている日本の飲み会と違い、アメリカでは自由に移動するのが普通です。
とにかく動き回って好きな人と話すのがアメリカ流なのかな、と思います。
それも、広く・浅くという感じです。
余談ですが、
一度アメリカでパーティーに参加した時、ある白人の学生が話しかけてきました。
でも、しばらく話した後、
「じゃあ他の人とも話したいからまたね」
と言って、
ささっとどこかに行ってしまいました。
見ると、すぐに他の人に話しかけていました。
アメリカ人にとって、パーティーは楽しむためのものだけじゃなく、
知り合い（コネクション）を増やすためでもあるんだなぁ、と実感したのをよく覚えています。
でもこれは、日本人にはちょっと失礼に見えるかもしれませんね。
もうひとつ、こういうＢＢＱのいいところは予算が本当に安く済むということ。
買う場所さえ間違えなければ、おなかいっぱい食べても1人1000円いかないくらいです。
それでいろんな人と話したりできるなら、本当に価値がありますよ。
大学でＢＢＱクラブでも作ればよかったかな？
表向きは遊びサークルで、裏では実はビジネス系サークルで、
いかにコストを削減したり、広告で利益を出すかをいつも考えている黒いクラブ（笑）

その時確かシマンチューさんは就活で毎日部屋に引き込んでいた頃ですね？その時の自分に振替すと自分の考え方って甘かったなぁって思っちゃう。I was having dreams of how finding a job should be easy. And now look at me. I'm in Edinburgh! Anyways we really should've started a プチbusiness earlier! lol
Actually, I had a similar experience multiple times - I was at a party in Edinburgh, and it was nice and fine (everyone holding a can of beer or glass of wine or smoking some weed), and I was talking to some people, but then they would very quickly try to move around. It was the size of our apartment in the picture - maybe the size of two of the rooms. But there were 50+ people....!!! You can't sit or else somebody'll sit on you. And people don't really care that much about your name, they just want to move around and talk to everybody. It was almost like some people just wanted to leave the part at the end of the night knowing that everybody would have a memory about them.

I am very sorry for everyone who look at the photo that there is no cute girls in it.
顔を出しに行って、適当に自己紹介しながら次から次へと別の人と話していく感じかな。そこにはパーティーの開始時刻も終了時刻も厳密にはないし、遅れたら失礼、みたいな感覚もない。逆に遅れてくるほうがかっこいいという考え方すらある。
英語には「fashionably late」っていう言葉があって、意味は「カッコよく遅れる」って意味なんだけど、ちょっと遅れてパーティーに行くくらいがかっこいい、みたいな考え方。
日本人であれば、時間を守れないようなやつがなんでかっこいいんだ！？って思うかもしれないけど、アメリカ人なら、みんながみんなキッチリ時間通りにパーティーに来るなんてなんか気持ちわるい、って言うと思う。
そうか～イギリスでも同じようなパーティースタイルなんやね。俺は、どちらかと言うと欧米のパーティースタイル（軽く、多くの人と会話する）よりも、気に入った数人と深くいろんなことについて話し合いたいと思う。
でも、まずはいろんな人と軽く話してみないと、そもそも自分が気に入る人を見つけることができないよね。

Yea, I've heard about the fashionably late, but that's only when there 're a lot of people, and when you come, the "all heads turn to you" is what i think they call 'fashionably late'. However, if no heads turn to you when you arrive a little late, the complete opposite happens... you're socially unattractive and it'll be harder in the rest of the game there.
Oh well! different styles, different tastes.

I have no idea about the coolest blog service... I just saw a friend's new blog, and it was great for pictures, ... but no.
